Madison Boeder

Madison Boeder is a Milwaukee-based artist whose practice explores themes of protection, transformation, spirituality, and the unstable nature of home. Working primarily through painting, installation, and mixed media, Boeder creates immersive spaces that function as portals—sites for reflection, healing, and connection. Drawing from personal experience, folklore, nature, and Pagan and Druidic traditions, her work frequently incorporates symbolic imagery such as trees, thresholds, and architectural forms to examine belonging, fear, and resilience.

Boeder received a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design with a minor in Art History, graduating cum laude. Her work has been exhibited throughout Wisconsin and beyond, including exhibitions at MIAD Gallery, Gray Area Gallery, VAR Gallery, Harbor District, Lexington Art League, and the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts. She is a former member of Plum Blossom Initiative: Bridge Work 11, a year-long residency program through VAR Gallery and Hawthorn Contemporary.

In addition to her studio practice, Boeder has worked as a studio assistant for artist Jason S. Yi, completed internships with VAR Gallery and Hawthorn Contemporary, and has organized exhibitions throughout Milwaukee and within DIY spaces. Her work and writing have been featured in publications including Shepherd Express, Hawthorn Contemporary, and other exhibition catalogs.
