Madison Jazz Festival 2025, Arts + Literature Laboratory, and Madison Jazz Society present The Original Pinettes Brass Band at Olin Park Pavilion on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Conversation / Q & A (part of iGnitE jAzz!) at 5:00pm. Concert at 7:00pm. Event will go on rain or shine! Food trucks by Monsoon Siam, Sista's Chicken & Fish, and Kona Ice will be available or BYO picnic!
Arts + Literature Laboratory, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, and Summer of the Arts have partnered to showcase The Original Pinettes Brass Band, the world’s leading all-Black, all-female brass band. This collaboration brings to the forefront a historically underrepresented group of musicians while highlighting New Orleans’ rich brass band tradition. The Pinettes will perform at the Madison Jazz Festival, the Congo Square Rhythm Festival in New Orleans, and the Iowa Arts Festival with support from Chamber Music America’s Presenter Consortium program. Prior to their performance at Olin Park, the band members will participate in a presentation and Q&A as part of the Madison Jazz Society's iGnitE jAzz! camp.
