Arts + Literature Laboratory and the LAB^4 community curation project will host The We Were Never Alone Project workshop with artist Bryana Bibbs on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm in the third floor Education Studio.
Founded in 2020, The We Were Never Alone Project is a weaving workshop for victims and survivors of domestic violence. While people share their stories, they will also learn how to weave on a cardboard loom. Participants will be provided with materials such as: yarn, plastic weaving needles, cardboard looms. Participants are encouraged to bring their own experimental materials (such as plastic bags, tees, ties, jeans, scarves, old denim, etc.) to weave with.
The project's mission is to eliminate the stigma of being a victim and survivor of domestic violence. So often, there is a significant amount of victim shaming and blaming once victims and survivors come forward with their stories. This project aims to create a safe, supportive, judgment-free community while creating woven art.
