Program notes:
The Madison New Music Ensemble presents contemporary classical concerts that take the listener into the present world of music-making for an adventurous experience. If you are interested in hearing the music of today, please join us. Our programs feature music written by composers mostly during the past 30 years, reflecting a wide range of styles from the United States as well as Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific Rim. In addition, recent programs have included music by up-and-coming American composers such as Valerie Coleman, Mason Bates, and Jessie Montgomery. Tonight’s concert will feature the innovative music of Christopher Cerrone, the crafty work of Libby Larsen, the jazz-based music of David Baker, and the reflective work of Jessie Montgomery. In addition a solo for flute by Aldophus Hailstork will be presented along with a world premiere by Joseph Koykkar, the Madison composer and the ensemble’s artistic director.
The ensemble has a YouTube Channel featuring a variety of performances from 2019 to the present. Please check out the videos using this link:
