Arts + Literature Laboratory and the LAB^4 community curation team welcome dancer and scholar Reenah Dixon for Wordless Discovery through Dance, the second of three events in the series Body as a Home: Belly Dancing and Embodiment Discoveries, where the mind, body, and soul are not seen as separate entities, on Wednesday, July 23, 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Free registration encouraged at hisawyer.com (not required, helpful to the LAB^4 team).
Rooted in Middle Eastern folk traditions, bellydance has grown into a global art form—connecting dancers across cultures and languages through the shared language of movement. In this experimental workshop, we’ll explore that connection by setting aside spoken words and engaging fully with music, visual learning, and gentle guiding contact. Without verbal instruction, we’ll discover how movement itself can teach, inspire, and unite. Whether you've never danced or have years of experience, you're invited to join this journey of embodied communication and expression. Please wear closer-fitting non-restricting clothing.
