Arts + Literature Laboratory and the LAB^4 community curation team welcome dancer and scholar Reenah Dixon for Radical Hospitality, the third of three events in the series Body as a Home: Belly Dancing and Embodiment Discoveries, where the mind, body, and soul are not seen as separate entities, on Wednesday, August 13, 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Free registration encouraged at hisawyer.com (not required, helpful to the LAB^4 team).
Welcoming others into our homes often stirs a mix of pride and vulnerability. When the body is the home and dance is the offering, those emotions can feel even more intense. This experiential class explores themes of generosity, self-acceptance, and connection through movement and shared presence. Participants will blur the boundaries between performer and observer—taking turns in both roles. In small groups, you’ll learn and share short dances in an open atrium space, while others engage from surrounding galleries and a balcony, creating a layered experience of witnessing and being witnessed. No dance experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity, your courage, and comfortable clothing.
