Call me mars. My Art medium explores relationships between human bodies, plant bodies, the places we both inhabit, and form. I express this curiosity and research through interdisciplinary art practices; constructing wearable art, building eco-soft-sculptures, weaving mixed media textiles, ceramics, and printmaking. I have earned multiple certifications in ethno-horticultural practices such as: plant pathology and physiology, cultural medicinal herbal wellness, traditional cultural plant usage, and ecological restoration. As an Ecological Restorationist, I have worked within Milwaukee’s NorthWest side in pockets of inner city green spaces, as well as Wisconsin’s Northern forests and land trusts sites. Gratitude for the opportunity to grow and share. My works have been exhibited in spaces such as The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Brooks Stevens Gallery, 5 Points Art Gallery and Studios, among other galleries and community spaces. Additionally, ceramic tile murals, created in collaboration with fellow Artists and mentors Melanie Tallmadge-Sainz and Muneer Bahauddeen can be viewed throughout Wisconsin.
