Located at 2021 Winnebago Street, Madison, Wisconsin, in the heart of the Schenk-Atwood neighborhood, Arts + Literature Laboratory (ALL) offers a unique community art space. With exposed brick walls and wooden beams, and a mix of original hardwood and concrete flooring, the space retains the character of the old Patternworks building, which also served as a print shop and pottery studio during its century of use. ALL is located near many other arts organizations and studios, including Midwest Clay Project, Winnebago Studios, Madison Circus Space, Sector 67, the Barrymore Theatre, Studio Paran, Gallery Marzen, Bare Knuckle Arts, TAPIT/new works, MAVEN Vocal Arts, Threshold, Madison Art Hub, and more.
ALL has two 750 sq. ft. spaces (Lab I and Lab III), a 250 sq. ft. space (Lab II) that can be used for additional exhibition space connected to Lab I or separate installations, and a 250 sq. ft. library that is used for co-writing, meetings and workshops. ALL has a variety of pedestals, a podium, four 6 ft. tables, 50 chairs, and a PA system. If you are planning an exhibition or event at ALL, we can provide you with a floor plan and other details. Step-free access is available through the back of the building upon request.
If you are interested in exhibiting at ALL, please submit an exhibition proposal. Artists and writers should also check our calls for artists for other exhibition and reading opportunities. For concerts and other performances, please contact us.
