Tavia La Follette

Tavia La Follette, Ph.D., is a conceptual artist, director and curator working in spaces where fields of practice are porous, to build new knowledge for our ever-evolving world. As the founder/director of the non-profit ArtUp, she curates the Sites of Passage projects, global interchanges for the migration of ideas across political/cultural borders.

She is guest curator for the MF museum and associate professor at Towson University, teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs.

La Follette was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to U.S. filmmakers (amidst a production) and grew up in New York City in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Her aesthetic heart and curatorial eye carry the struggles of the city at that time and the art that grew from that labor. (Source: Towson University)
