Mentorship with Brandy T. Wilson

This unique opportunity allows writers to work one-on-one with a professional writer and instructor in crafting a work of fiction or creative nonfiction. Dr. Brandy T. Wilson will mentor students, one-on-one through the beginning of the creative process of a longer work of fiction or creative nonfiction (novel or memoir). Participants may submit up to 50 complete pages of a longer piece on which they have been working or writers may begin with only a small portion of the work and write the first 50 pages over the course of the mentorship (about 10 pages per week).

Over the course of the 6 week mentorship, Brandy will critique the work and take the writer through steps of revising and developing those first 50 pages as well as plans for writing and developing the remainder of the work. She will serve as a sounding board to work out ideas as well as a guide through the writing and revising process by helping the writer set goals and meet them through work on specific techniques through exercises, revision strategies, and planning for the next stage. Critiques of the work will focus on developing the work through craft technique. There may be some line editing, but this will be minimal and will not serve as proofreading or editing for grammar or technical issues.

Please email a 2-3 page (double-spaced) writing sample to, along with a brief (one sentence to one paragraph) description of what you'd like to accomplish.

For an additional fee, Brandy would be happy to continue to work with the writer.

Submit an additional 10 pages and get two weeks mentorship. $100

Submit revisions of the original 50 pages and get three weeks mentorship. $175

Submit the next 50 pages with an additional 6 weeks mentorship. $375
